My journey in understanding ‘Consciousness’ has always been at the forefront of discovering myself and what makes us tick? What allows us to connect to the notion of Oneness and what does it mean to be aware and awake to all that is within and around us.
My experiences with understanding consciousness stems from early on, at age thirteen I was interested in full moon mediations.
My teenage years of exploring LSD and use of mind-altering substances gave access to discover a deeper understanding of myself, my connection to the outside world and my always talking monkey-mind. My career path of becoming an actress opened another layer and my exploration into deconstructing oneself and diving deeper into the human nature, psychology and mindfulness
My first Journey with Ayahuasca in 2007 will always be my most profound experience I have ever known. One that is not tangible to be put in words. The spirit of the plant moved so deep within and I was able to dissolve and face myself completely for the first time. I felt as though I was experiencing a death, yet it was the death of my ego that was taking place. She has opened me up to following my path of healing, service and truth and continues to me a guiding force in my shamanic approach to life and work and humanity.
“When you have achieved a state of Deep Mediation, you unlock the door to your subconsciousness mind. That is where your power to create the life you desire lies.”
– Adrian Calbrese
Western philosophers, since the time of Descartes and Locke, have struggled to comprehend the nature of consciousness and pin down its essential properties. Issues of concern in the philosophy of consciousness include whether the concept is
fundamentally coherent; whether consciousness can ever be explain? Whether non-human consciousness exists and if so how
can it be recognized; how consciousness relates to language and whether it may ever be possible for computing machines like
computers or robots to be conscious?
My fascination with this subject has lead me to continue my walk along this path. I continue to be a student to life and all she offers and all I know for myself is that meditation has allowed me to reach spaces of such depth that I feel I am on the right path to distilling what Consciousness is on my path as a seeker.
Here are some very interesting books that have opened my eyes to digging deeper and feeling the layers away of the onion.
